How to convert MKVs WITH subtitles to H.264 MP4

July 28th, 2013

I have been trying to properly convert some 720p and 1080p anime MKVs to the Vita’s native 960*544 res h.264 MP4 files whilst retaining (hardcoding) their subtitles, and so far have only found one program which can do so (all at once,
without having to use multiple programs to extract the subs and reencode), but it leaves a watermark and a full version is nowhere to be found.
Does anyone know of another solution?

Can’t help sorry, but might be good idea to put name of program in, because you never know someone may have full program
Answer #2
The one I tested that seemed to work was simply called ‘Brorsoft MKV Converter’.

Try Freemake Video Converter.
You can pick various formats and customize them to get the res, etc, that you want.
Subtitles can be burnt in..

Read my Help Guide (link in my signature) under: How to repack (without conversion) MKV to MP4 for Xbox, PS3 etc
I have NOT tested the subtitle with MP4Muxer though. You have to test it yourself.
AFAIK meGUI can do it.
Update: Sorry….I missed this in your original post…
If you want to change the resolution, then the video has to be converted.
merGUI can do it but it is not the easiest program to work with
Good luck

Or you can use Avidemux. Load the MKV, Select Video to Copy, Select Audio to Copy, Select Format: MP4 or MP4 (PSP) and save new MP4 File.
This muxes the streams without having to convert.

That would be good but I think he wants to change the resolution.,
still that could be done in Avidemux.
