Slight problem with duel boot Vista & XP

I was browsing some folders on windows vista, and all of a sudden i came across a folder which i had no permission to view, so i gave my self permision in ‘properties’ so that i could enter the folder.
THe problem is now that when i log onto windows XP, i cannot view those folders which i modified on VISTA, such as my DESKTOP This is a PRETTY big issue, can anyone please help me.
I have tried to UN-give myself permission on vista, but it either didnt work, or i havent done something right.
Some folders in vista for example Local Settings and some others are just dummy folders…they don’t really exist…
what do you mean?
