Which is a better graphics card or are they both equal as far as performance is concerned?
Answer #1
Depends on what you’re looking to accomplish.
Answer #2
Here is the scenario
I have an HP a1440n Desktop Computer at home with a 2.8 Ghz Dual Core processor. It has a 500 GB HDD. It also has 3.25 GB RAM DDR2. The graphics card is a GT220 1 GB RAM. It has Windows XP installed.
I have been able to play games such as Crysis 2, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, Dead Space 2 and Bioshock 2 with very smooth gameplay.
I just bought a Dell XPS 8300 Desktop Computer. Its has an i7 processor with 4 cores. It has Windows 7 installed. It has a 1 TB HDD. The current memory is 6 GB RAM DDR3 expandable up to 16 GB. The graphics card is
an AMD Radeon HD 6450.
Based on those specs which graphics card will give better performance for gaming?
Answer #3
i think the GT220 just beats it.
but with an i7 i wouldnt be aiming to get such a low end card really.
Answer #4
The system is pretty impressive as is minus the graphics card. I hope I can run games like Dead Island and Batman Arkham City on it before I upgrade my graphics card next year. Your saying the GT220 just beats it. What I can do is swap the GT220 from my HP Computer and put it in the Dell Computer instead of the AMD Radeon HD 6450.
Answer #5
The GT220 is useless for games. so is the card you already have though.
If that’s the limit of your budget then you should look into second hand cards on ebay.
You should be able to pick up a used GTX 260 for the price of a new GT 220.

According to that, both cards are quite even and will not offer more than 3 frames of a difference.
However, because of the i7 on your desktop, it will perform much better (HD 6450)
These cards are both LOW END by the way.
