How do you sing well?

February 6th, 2020

I’ve tried a lot of “learn to sing at home” products but I don’t notice a lot of difference.
I’m off tune, I sound like I’m holding back and I just generally don’t sound good.
I play guitar, bass guitar, piano and drums, but I cannot sing.
Can anyone tell me what to do?

Well you can always try going to a professional vocal coach. If that fails, well I’m sorry mate but not everyone was born with a singing voice.

Continue doing that:
I play guitar, bass guitar, piano and drums.
Not all ppl can be good at playing all those instruments, but you are. Singing is probably not for you.
Anyway, i guess i can do better than that:

Don’t worry if you can’t sing, it never stopped Whitney Houston, or Bob Dylan.
Anyone else like to add to the list of people who never let their lack of talent get in the way of making records?

I hate to brag, I really do, but I’m not a bad singer when I listen to anything with lyrics from Incubus to anything that has lyrics in Dubstep/DnB/Trance. I don’t know what it “takes” to be a good singer, I just usually always sing songs when I’m listening to them. Just practice as much as you can, you’ll eventually get good.

dont cheat. learn to sing. even if it takes years- But every singer uses his own tactics. But 2 tips. Sing loud. Dont mime it. Still dont overdo it. Other is… sing with your stomach. Hard to explain. But if you notice your alm ost doing a bellydance while you sing. Well then its actually just a good thing.- But again. its so different from person to person and what your trying to sing.
But look at the opera guys. They are all overweight. They can really sing with their stomach. (and we both know that, overweitgh does bot equil great lungs’. ) so yeah just my quick advice. other than that. Sing all the time- Even whistle to practice hitting the notes. (more to learn to hear when your at the right pitch.)

practice singing along with the DO RE MI FA SO LA TI DO tones, not your own tone though. That is the first thing that can help you out. Probably will take u awhile though but its better than nothing. Record yourself so you know how you turned out. Some ppl are tone deaf, but I believe you can overcome it with PRACTICE, PRACTICE AND THEN PRACTICE AGAIN!!! Good Luck

I am far from being a good singer. Some songs are in my range, many others are NOT.
You need to understand the limits of your vocal range and recognize when the song is not going to work for you.
Two tips that help me:
1) SPEAK UP! Don’t be shy. When you hold back because you feel insecure about your singing it really limits your performance.
Fortunately I have studio space where no one can hear me. If my performance sucks, so what… try again… take 2.
Sing like no one is listening.
2) Stand up straight and keep your chin up. I position my microphone so that I am looking slightly upwards towards it. This helps keep your throat open and the air flowing freely.
Don’t rely on autotune, or you will never get better!!! Pitch correction is OK for fixing up a few notes you are having difficulty with but always opt for a few extra takes before resorting to it.
Good luck
