Dreamweaver is pissing me off, can you help?

August 1st, 2016

For example..
I write sume text ine the window.. and if i try to change the size of just a little part of the text.. it all changes size… , i cant find the button to centralize text..
Ive watched tutorials but i cant do ~love~.
Coffecup is better than this dreamweaver shite..

Answer #1
well if coffee cup did what you wanted you would not be trying DW
so be patient and it will reward you in time
search the DW help file on “center text” but there’s an icon in the toolbar to do it, should be 3 in a row for right, center & left justify
and resizing text should just be a mater of selecting it and resizing from the menu
if you watch your code as you do it what changes, duz it add a <font> tag
Answer #2
i cant find anything on centering text
and the problem with all the text on the screen changing size has something to do with me not bgeing able to start a fresh line of text that hasnt got the same properties as the previous line.. i press enter.. and sumtimes it starts afresh, then other times not… can i just pay u to talk me thru this crap please?
Answer #3
ps, there ISNT a center text option in the properties…
I can move it a bit, but not centralize it.
I can see a centralize text option in the css section of properties, but i didnt want to get into all that stuff already?
this sucks
coffeecup is way more user freindly.. and actually the only reason im not using coffecup is coz sumobody said my site looked too basic…
personally i prefer coffecup sites, .. dreamweaver is grey, office like, bland and very slow to use, if ure luky enuff to be able to use the hunk of dung at all, that is
Answer #4

you starting a fresh blank page or working from a template
there may be text formatting associated with the line, can you remove it
you know how to post a screenshot of you DW workspace, if so do it
what exactly are you trying to do, how many pages

you have word processor knowledge
or any computer skills other than e-mail web surfing ?
or you starting completely from scratch and what finished product you want ? a web site, one page or what are you trying to do
Answer #7
Perhaps pasting your code here would help us understand where it went wrong. I dont know which version your using of Dreamweaver but in Dreamweaver CS3 theres button on left you click to view code. BTW check this out Dreamweaver CS3 for dummies ^_^ Say thanks in thread if you like it

completely from scratch really.
and im at home, not working as ive been ill.. i was trying to maybe design simple web pages for local businesses, as a source of a little income.
and i dont have much word processor knowledge.. tho i have typed a few letters on comp before.. but dreamweavers interface isnt the same as them. and i didn treally know how to use the wordprcessors anyway to be honest.

hi, hmm i dont really have any data to post, as i’m always trying to start, then stoppping again. as its all just too daunting.
I’ve tried ‘for dummies’ book.. but its not basic enough for me.
for example, when using coffe-cup it has CLEAR instructions on how to build a website, step by step. EVERY other tutorial for EVERY other webdesign software is confusing bloated crap.
Coffe-cup may not be as powerfull as dreamweaver, and it has a few very annoying thigs that i just cant sort out (the tiny web page being one of them, so when its opened up in a browser, its just a small page in the mddle of the screen).
but at ;least it has a CLEAR step by step guide, that you dont have to be a robot with a word processor for a brain to follow.
so i ask again.. has anybody written, or made a video that is for true ‘dummies’? not that confusing book that calims its for dummies, coz it isnt.
Thanks

I started learning by saving pages form the web to my hard drive then opening them in dreamweaver to see how it’s done
If you really want to learn this it will take effort on your part but it sounds like all your energy is going to being frustrated and angry
if you have had success in coffee cup try making pages and the open those in dreamweaver and see if you can fix them
it’s up to you to learn the controls in the program and anything you don’t understand google and then google the parts of that answer you don’t understand and so on till it starts to make sense a web page is just a text document with HTML code, not that mysterious if you take the time to learn it
but you have to realize going in it will take time and effort
that’s why web designers get the big bucks
try googling “build a simple website” and terms like that till you find somthing that you can understand
Answer #11
hmm maybe..
I just thought the dea of web design software was to make it simple…
but everyone keeps refering to that damn html code like we all still have to learn it.. odd
Cheers for ure time
Answer #12
Just like any and all fully fatured progs Dreamweaver can take a while to learn but is worth the trouble The simpler the prog in useage terms the simpler the resulting out put just keep playing and it will come ok
Answer #13
really i cant do it.
I tried to import to dreamweaver a webpage i was working on from coffeee cup.. it wouldnt go in properly, all the pictures were msising, then it looked like the webpage wasnt fitting on the widow, like it was to big for it, and i couldnt get to the edges of the work., but then when i did a preview on firefox, it looked to small… and the edges were squashed towards the middle
I cant google every problem i come up with, for example, you try to google that what i just wrote… i cant explain everything in just a few words… theres to many things i dont understand.
Thanks for all ure idea, but i give up.. i ~ censored ~ hate computers
please close thread
Answer #14
If at first you dont suceed GIVE UP
Answer #15
at first? ive been at this for ages. its ok for u to say that, u can use it, i cant. i wouldnt mind the odd reward or a ‘learning curve’ .. but nothing. people tellign me, ‘it simple, i’ll help u, i’ll tell u all u need to know in five minutes’ erm. not quite. I even had one very kind guy come off here and onto my msn to help me.. still nothing.
check my previous posts asking for help in here, its not ‘at first’ i just cant get my head around it.
i’ll tell u one thing.. its not user freindly.. it expects you to already have web building knowledge.. so i reckon, for the price its a peice if crap.. im just glad i didnt actually pay out for it, then id be after someones head. I’ve tried many tutorials, starting from scratch everytime.. then when i try to follow the instructions, it doesnt work for me, god knows why, this even happened on a cs4 tutorial, and thats the version i have.
Ive spent ages just trying to press buttons and get a ‘feel’ for the programme but i just end up getting TOTALLY lost.
So please, understand thast i havnt just tried it once then given up… ive just ~ censored ~ had enough of a totally unrewarding, confusing, ~lol~ peice of software

tried them allready thanks… i got lost in the very first few paragraphs.. she explains sum of the common functions, but expects you to know wat ‘radio buttons’ are….. ‘next you’ll find forms, suprise, that ones full of all the form options, radio buttons, things like that’.
HELLO woman, i dont know wat ure talking about.
i dont mean to be rude, but if that a begginers guide, im not intersted. all it does is annoy me.
thanks for all ure suggestions guys. but as far as im concerend u need to be a computer wizz to use these things, nobody has been able to come up with a tutorial that the everyday guy can understand. maybe they cant because the software is to complicated, i dont know. but if i was makeing a tutorial , id make damn sure i made sense to the absolute begginer.
