I keep calling them, and they say “try it later”, “this is the peak hour and thats how adsl works”. That really sucks. What am I supposed to do?

Answer #1
Try it at times other than peak hour?
Answer #2
yes, now its not peak hour, its 10 am, and you can see the results
Answer #3
you can always do something called a traceroute. Traceroute is a command which can show you the path a packet of information takes from your computer to one you specify. It will list all the routers it passes through until it reaches its destination. By doing this you can see if you take unnecessary routes to a website, which could be slowing your internet. To do it Press start, run, type ‘cmd’ , then type ‘tracert’ then a website of your choice and you can see the route your computer takes to get to that data. Meaning you could be connecting to a server really far away to get to information really close, if you get my drift.
So Traceroute google.com see what route your computer takes
Answer #4
Have you tried asking them if they have placed any restrictions on your account due to excessive downloading?

swap isp?
Answer #7
I looked at this post: http://www.google.com?t=893849&highlight= and i think it may be the DNS Server that your ISP gave you. If you had no problems before you entered those numbers, then it is 100% the dns server that they have specified for you (which is giving you the slow speed).
Answer #8
try other dns servers like 194.72.9.38
