Try using this codec pack:

Also use VLC Player or Media Player Classic to play the file.

sorry my bad i’ll repost…. thanks

theres 2 factors affecting this
1) monitor brightness/color settings
2) overlay controls,some media players
will show the video as-is (meaning youll see it in according
to your monitor settings) and some supports overlay controls
which let you tune the brightness/colors and then basicly
override your monitor settings,then brightness/colors
will be determined by both monitor and overlay settings in the player
windows media player DOES NOT support overlay, you should use
vlc or kmplayer
my monitor’s brightness/contrast are set very low,not too low but
enough to make movies/tv shows look dark, but i use VLC with overlay controls
which makes em look just perfect

I play the movies through my hd tv and it still look the same as on the moniter.. would ur suggestion work the same on the tv
Answer #6
well it depends,if you connect your video card to the tv then i think it would
otherwise not,you will have to adjust the colors/brightness on the tv
Answer #7
I tied the above suggestion.. still not making a difference..
Answer #8
could you be more specific about what exactly you did?
just to be sure you did it right, and also , was your video card
connected to the tv?
Answer #9
i connected the pc to my tv direct from the video card using a long vga cable. I installed the codec park suggested by and also installed the vlc player that u suggested i use.. i could not see how to access the overlay controls thou.
Thank for all ur help so far Rovvie im very breatful
Answer #10
sorry i meant robbie not rovvie. lol
Answer #11
no worries its okay by vga you mean standard 15 pin d-sub connector? im not sure if thats a good way to connect it,why
not via a a hdmi or svideo cable if supported by the tv/card?
anyhows back to overlay controls,in vlc menu click settings–>extended
gui then youll see em on the bottom, check the enable box and adjust em
also to save the settings in vlc get into the settings–>perferences menu
and click the save button
Answer #12
yea that helps a bit.. still a little bit dark. Does it be like that for everyone or is it just my carppy pc
Answer #13
try adjusting the gamma on the extended GUI
set overlay controls aside, its possible its because
of the cable you used to connect it , your better
off using an hdmi or svideo cable , depending
on whats supported on your tv/video card
edit , check your dispay properties, you might
have some adjustments there that could help
Answer #14
i’ll give that a go next.. thanks again
