[SOLVED]Major PC problem

August 6th, 2016

At first i had a problem with startup…when i pushed power button and hold it the PC started like car (like it couldnt get enough power to fully start up). But after 2 weeks maybe the PC started to overheat, so i bought a new CPU cooler and heating problem seemed to solve but it started to reboot for no reason and now it gets to windows welcome screen (if lucky) and shuts down. I got to BIOS one time and temperatures were fine…So i need help!

Answer #8
there may be 3 reasons for this a hardware/software or virus issue.
when you boot up your pc you mention it automatically reboots? hmmm… seems to me this could simply be a computer viruses such as the “blaster virus”. Usually these viruses will make the computer reboot every 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes after the computer has booted. If you believe your computer may be infected with a virus or are uncertain if your computer is infected with a virus make sure to do a virus scan and keep your virus definition up to date.
If not the above, i will also suggest changing the power supply make sure your power supply has enough watts to run the motherboard, and if your motherboard can handle the power supply. If that all fails i also suggest re-installing windows as it may just be a issue with the operating system.
hope this helps u, and good luck
Answer #9
I second the idea of a faulty power supply.

No virus i think! I used Kaspersky 2010 what was updated.
Powersupply was tested and it works perfectly. i have 400W PSU so it should be fine…and iv tryd to boot whitout different things (RAM cards seperatly, without vid card etc)
That win reinstall doesen’t really look promesing…its more hardware problem!

In my opinion if i was in your shoes and i had tried everythig, my last option would be system re-install…. It is better for you to know that you tried evevrything, rather than giving up without even trying. few other thing you could try is:  - flashing the bios (firmware update) http://www.pcnineoneone.com/howto/biosflash1.html
 - changing the battery:

If all fails then i suggest buy a new pc and give up on your grandad pc

Answer #14
well then there is nothing more for me to suggest now to be totally honest, as i have already told you what i know. Anways wish you all the best
Answer #15
Does it just shut down like bam like when you close a TV? If so, it has to be your power supply and it seems as though when one of your components connected to it reaches peak there isn’t enough power. How many HDD’s do you have connected?
Answer #16
This is tuff to get to the bottom off. The PSU could well be a supsect. What is the FULL specification of the system including PSU branding and power rating.
Answer #17
Just an advice mate…… but their are times when one should just give up on something rather than spending more money/time trying to fix it. You might aswell buy something new that will last longer and cost cheaper. I say this from personal expericne, i had a laptop that failed 3 times went to repair it , paid lots of money on it until i finally realised to just buy a new one. I also had a old car that i loved and kept on repairing before giving up on it. Better of buying a new one to save you money $$$.
Answer #18
I’m going to have to say it’s a power supply issue like some of the others have said. If you have an extra try using that one once.
Answer #19
Ignore the “give up and buy a new computer” people.
They clearly have no clue what they are talking about.. It can be diagnosed and repaired with a little problem solving, just like everything else.
So stick with it and post full system spec.
