[SOLVED] Need help with new installed hard drive

October 31st, 2013

Hi,
i have just installed a new hard drive which is a brand new replacement for one that failed on me.
When windows booted up it installed the driver for the hard drive.
Windows know the drive exits i can see it in device manager but not in my computer or anywhere else, i noticed it says location is 0 and the other drive says location is 2

I guess i need to format it since it is brand new, but how do i do it since i can not access it?

Answer #1
Disk Management Console (create a partition and format it)
Start > diskmgmt.msc
*edit – just make sure you format the right one

Answer #4
Just go to Control panel and click on Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management and you will be able to see it in there.
It will just be a matter of formatting the drive, resizing it if you need to and giving it a drive letter if it needs one. This can all be done by right clicking on the drive in the bottom pane
