show hidden files and folder option missing

August 5th, 2016

Hello, im having a problem, i was looking for some files that were under some hidden folders and when i go to show the hidden folders, the option to show them is not there. it only says dont show hidden files and is checked. i google it and it said it could be a virus and i could fix it by editing the registry but i tried doing it but everything is allright in the registry…. by the way im running windows 7 64bits and its an alienware…..anyone has an idea what it could be?? it would be of great help, thank you these are the steps i tried to fix the registry but everything is how this says it should be
Click the Start Orb -> go to the Run Dialog
On the Run Dialog -> type Regedit
On Regedit go to these values
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden
Look for a key named Type (without the quotes) on the right-hand side, change the value to group (without the quotes)as shown above. If the key Type, is missing then create a new String value. Name it Type (without the quotes), set its value to group (without the quotes). and that should do it. Presto Youre done.

this is exactly how it looks Image

Well, I don’t know what you have done (or Dell has done) to disable that. Maybe its disabled in group policy. But you can use the above post (I edited it) and go to the last link, there is reg files to hide them again if you need.

Use Malwarebytes to help you remove infections.

And use ESET to prevent them, make sure you get ESET Smart Security (unless you already have a very good firewall) and not just Nod32, as that is just the anti-virus componet.
