Motherboard Error – 3270 keyboard card

August 5th, 2016

Hi, I just replaced one of my old motherboards, and I’m getting some sort of error. I installed an internal speaker, and on startup, it gave me 3 long beeps. I googled it and it said “3270 keyboard card” and that’s all they gave me. I have no idea what that means, does anyone have a clue? Thanks.
If specs are needed:
OS: Windows Vista Home Basic
Motherboard: MSI P55-GD55
Processor: Intel i7 2.83… (estimate, sorry )
Video Card: Nvidia gts 250
Power supply: 600w
RAM: Dual Channel 4GB G-skill Trident Series DDR3 Memory
Thanks.

A 3270 is not a keyboard card. It is an adaptor card that allows a PC to emulate a mainframe terminal.
It’s all got something to do with your BIOS.
What you need to do, is take your case off, and look for all the BIOS chips that look slightly larger, they all should have some sort of print on them. write all the names/numbers down. and head to http://bioscentral.com/ to look up the code for your model.
Three long beeps definately means you have a keyboard error.
Nearly all the modem mobo’s don’t have a keyboard adaptor card. but have IO directly on the board.
So, either you have a shotty keyboard (which you can replace, etc..) trying another keyboard will solve this.
Or your new mobo has issues. i can’t say for sure if their compatability issues, or it’s a hardware fault.
Good luck
Answer #2
remove all but CPU, vid card and 1 stick of ram (do this with all sticks 1 @ a time)
(no drives, KB or mouse connected)

If it winds up being a faulty mobo. You can always request an RMA. NewEgg is good with RMAs. http://www.newegg.com/HelpInfo/FAQDetail.aspx?Module=6
