HP Compaq 6720s recorvery disk

February 7th, 2019

hey,
I my new laptop of a mate and i decided to use his recovery disks to restore it to factory settings, as you do…
It failed at 14% and i couldn’t retrieve my OS back, so i re-installed vista for some it’s making me lose 3″ of my screen 1.5″ on either side… so i was wondering would someone be kind enough to put their recovery disks into the comp… when on ofcourse so not to reboot their own comp… but to upload all original files for me… i know 8Gb is alot… but it would be muchly apreciated…
oh yeah i also tried going onto HP and ordering me a new set of disks but for some reason it wont accept my product key =(.
thanks very much.

Answer #1
Screen size – Easy,Just download and install the graphics driver,Get it from HPs site
after that just define the screen resolution accordingly , Plus some other paramaters if required
As for your request,I see no point , Forget about recovery disks,You just need to download the drivers
and thats that , These recovery disks are just disk images of the OS with the drivers on it
Answer #2
i tried downloading the wireless driver and the ethernet port driver… both of which i installed and niether work still… the ethernet port now finds that it’s connected to my hub but it is constantly “identifying” never actually connects… help lol… as for the graphics driver i shall try that =)
Answer #3
The correct way to determine if a driver is installed or not is device manager (Windows key+R>devmgmt.msc)
if it doesnt show there as ethernet adapter with yellow excellmation then its installed fine , I assume your
hub is connected to a router,I bet this router have DHCP turned off,Which explains what your describing,When
DHCP is off a static ip must be assigned along with the correct gateway IP , When you were on HPs site
were there only 2 kinds of ethernet & wireless drivers? Its possible there was 2 or even 3 diffrent drivers for
different adapters and you downloaded the incorrect ones

i think there is only two, but im not sure which of the graphics driver or other drivers i need to instal :S
Answer #5
You need to get “Intel Video Driver and Control Panel for Microsoft Windows Vista (32-bit) ”
and the correct ethernet driver is “Intel PRO/Wireless Drivers for Microsoft Windows Vista ”
this may also be the one for wireless aswell but i can’t say for sure as it can be that or the other
broadcom one,As said before about device manager^
Answer #6
if i was to install both would it wipe the first one or do both drivers run side by side?
i can install them yet because just before i posted this topic onhere a mate told me to run dos and try the disk sanitiser so it’s currently at 40.1%
but i have downloaded the nessicery drivers and put them on a memery stick for me to stick on there once it’s complete
Answer #7
What exactly do you mean by disk santisizer? Maybe you’re mistaking it for chkdsk?
I thought you already reinstalled the OS and just didn’t had the drivers,Redoing it
all just doesn’t make any sense,And disk wiping is only useful before selling a HDD or a PC
but you’re probably refering to chkdsk here , The ethernet adapter according to the laptop specs is intel
so that intel driver mentioned is the right one and if that’s what you used then its all good,For ethernet
at least , The wireless one could also be intel but could be broadcom aswell , As said before DEVICE MANAGER!
if the ethernet/wireless adapters already show there as installed then no need to install their drivers again
Answer #8
im not doing a chkdsk… when the comp started to load up hit F10 and theres a link called disk sanitizer… that is what my mate told me i should try… i can cancel it but im not sure if it has wiped the OS or what it does… i was just going on what a mate said because i thought he knew what he was talking about so im going to wait for it to finish what its doing… as for when i said i tried the links i did… that was earlier today before i started the “disk sanitizer” and try what you are suggesting because to be perfectly honest… you sound like you know what your talking about =D
Answer #9
Yep i know what i’m talkin bout Disk sanitizing (More commonly known as wiping)
writes zeros (or other random charcters) to every sector in the hard drive,This is usally
done a number of times in a row to ensure the data
will not be recoverable (By data recovery apps)
This should only be done before selling a hard drive or a computer
as a whole to make sure the person who gets it
will not be able to recover your data , This should
not at all be used prior to reinstalling the OS , The
correct way to go about it is to boot the OS disc and do a quick
format on the C partition (Which only takes a few seconds),Tho you will
probably have to re-partition it now
Answer #10
re-partition it?? :S
don’t quite know what it means :L.
i was hoping that doing this “disk sanitation” would put the computer back to its original state a.k.a factory settings this definutly takes a long time lol… it’s only at 58.4%
seeing as you know alot about it… would it be safe to cancel or should i wait itt out??
Answer #11
I was saying that because you started wiping it then the partition table
was probably destroyed so you’ll probably end up with unallocated space
on windows setup and will have to re-assign partitions (drive letters) to it
The only thing disk wiping puts to original state is the hard drive (And they come
100% clean without any data) , Again this is not practical at all for this purpose,Only
before selling a hard drive or a whole computer to make sure the buyer will not be able
to recover data of the previous owner , You should cancel it and boot from the windows DVD
Answer #12
i am re-installing windows vista home basic now (not the disc that came with the computer but is the OS that was originally on my comp)…
i see what you mean bout the drives… i don’t have two drives ( C:, D just the one drive…
Answer #13
If you’re installing vista from your own original disc then don’t input your serial
just skip that part and use an activation crack later on , Anyways as said do a quick format to the C partition then proceed with the installation , Altho it would be wise to make another partition
just for important data so it will be kept there for next time , Just sayin if theres C: and D: and important data is kept on D then it will still be there if/when the OS will have to be reinstalled as its only nessasry to format C
Answer #14
does it make a difference if i used my serial because i typed it in already before your posted back… :S
Answer #15
Original windows serials are usually tied to the specific hardware (At least when it comes
to home users,For corporations theres corp/enterprise editions and volume license keys)
so in plain words,While your serial will work on his computer , His windows will not be seen
by microsoft as legit , Furthermore theres a chance (Altho not a big one) that it will cause
microsoft to blacklist the serial which will make it unlegit on your own computer aswell
and as we all know non legit windows = update problems , But theres always good cracks,
I suggest you abort it all and start again,Dont input your serial this time,Just skip it,Search
for an activation crack on the apps section you’ll find plenty

You’re right to some respects but not all. A retail key can legally activate 3 machines. There after you can uninstall and reinstall provided the hardware has is identical. Then if it doesn’t match you get phone activation.
