Answer #1
generaly rebooting your router will do it (unplug it from the power, wait ~a minute and plug it back in, wait another couple of minutes for it to reconnect)
if this doesnt do it, you will need to phone your isp and ask to have a dynamic IP
Answer #2
Generally, with Comcast, you can’t. Rebooting the router will not get a new IP. I can plug in my old router and it will still come up with the IP that it had when I last used it. The router’s MAC address gets associated with the IP. The don’t clean out those tables very often, either.
The only time my Comcast IP has changed has been when I’ve switched to a new router, or they make network configuration changes at their end.
Answer #3
I believe all/most Comcast accounts are static IP.
Answer #4
ur router should have the ability to “clone” a mac address.
if u change the mac address ur cable modem sees ur router as, it will request a new IP from comcasts DHCP server.
Answer #5
Its static IP mate…. unless you do some kind of spoofing….

That may work. I tend to forget about that feature, as I never use it.

Only buisness class accounts have static IP or if you pay extra for a static IP for a residential account. For lack of a better term, your residential account is a “sticky dynamic IP”.
Since the modems are often online for extended periods of time, the leases on the IP addresses are commonly renewed, and therefore may not change.
Most IP addresses given out by the Comcast DHCP system are in a leased mode. This means that if your modem is turned off for several days or more, the IP address goes back to a group of IP addresses to be automatically reassigned to other users. Turning off the modem for short periods of time will not reset the leased IP address because the modem is assigned the IP address based on the original computer’s MAC address.

comcast as far as I know uses a dynamic IP
but
the only way mines ever changed was to disconnect for a day or two then when reconnected it’s a new IP
my comcast uses a 12 hour “lease”, as they call it
The only time my Comcast IP has changed has been when I've switched to a new router
most times that won’t help as the IP is associated with the cable modem
they make network configuration changes at their end
this will get you a new one as well

This is correct……

This is correct......
the cable modem has it’s own MAC addy so I don’t think the will change the IP
the cable system reads you modem not your router so I think that statement is incorrect

If I plug in a pc directly, I get a different IP than my router had. Plug the router back in and it gets the same IP it had before. Its not the modem that receives the DHCP, its the device beyond it.
