help required, concerning torrenting in the UK

January 20th, 2020

Hi everyone,
I was wondering, since I am new here in the UK, should I be really careful about torrenting? I mean, back in Hong Kong, it wasn’t a problem at all even for the copyrighted stuff. I am currently with BT group, and wanted to ask if I should be careful?
I mean, I can even stop torrenting, cause I rarely have to… Will downloading files from putlocker be better, or is that dangerous here too?
Would appreciate some help.
Have a good day,

Have a good day,

Downloading from torrents in general has a flaw because your I.P address can be traceable, and people can see what files you are downloading / seeding. Also when using public trackers, their are chances of getting fake torrents with viruses etc…
Whereas when using filehost such as putlockers you only download links, provided by a user who you can trust. For example if i download games, i will use trustworthy upoaders links such as “toothless” and “I am awesome” links. The direct link, will be downloaded through putlockers servers. Their is no way of your isp knowing what you downloaded. I will suggest you purchase a Real-Debrid account, instead of using a single providers such as putlockers. It enables you to download from 100+ filehost such as rapidgator, uploaded.to.

im with virgin media here, been using a private tracker for well over 2 years and been using HTTP downloads (MU,RS etc) well before that. (when virgin media was NTL world) never once have i got letter about it.

I think it depends on whether the ISP gives a toss about torrents, most don’t care. I don’t use torrents I mainly use ftp and http.
However, saying that, UK ISP’s cannot hand over your contact details to the company that would be tracking you from their honeypot without a court order.
If you want to be extra safe, use a good reliable VPN service with OpenVPN as the client, I use privateinternetaccess they are great. You can also use their Dutch server where it is actually legal to download most things, not sure about apps though.
As mentioned above, Real-Debrid would be a good cheap investment if you download from many clickhosts. RD the best two hosters are uploaded and filefactory in my experience (speedwise and no deleted files)
Hope that helps ? The Digital copying law in this country is so messed up and full of jibberish, so no-one in enforcement positions don’t even know most of the law in this area.
Edit – the law Act, have a read…

i know them and they only got a slap on the hands.
from what i know of being in the uk and seen so many people busted is you will only get busted if one tells on you, your selling the films ect, giving copys out, or a very heavy downloader, and if you download with the film name in the title easy way to read there logs

well i know who they are sorry and i would not know you would i and if one was you you would not have the internet or a pc untill you was told you could due to being busted.
i know this as my dad worked for a pirate that sold the films from a high street job and was busted big time and they took everything tv dvd bluray pc everything.
saying you was one does not make you look big but good try.
look on fact site for dudley high street you’ll see him and why he got busted.
you are not safe no matter what and if your a very heavy downloader it just brings it closer to you getting busted.
plus BT are the worse to grass on people every year they give a list out of piraters but not many.
sky are the same this is why they took there capping system off so piraters go to them.
virgin they do grass on you but not as bad as the other too

Wow thank you all for the overwhelming response… I guess I will play it safe and if I do need to download something, will use filehosts. Also, yeah Real debrid looks cheap and good, so will definitely invest in that as well. Thank you all for the suggestions!
