Heavy Resolution(?) problems with Games

August 4th, 2016

Well hello,
i got a “little” problem when it comes to playing full screen games, i’ll try to describe the problem as english is a foreign language for me and its pretty hard =/
When i start Games like Metro 2033, Anno 1404, Star Wars the force unleashed 1&2 etc, the screen well its like it stretches and goes back to normale instantly.. it stretches, goes back, stretches goes back… its like the monitor is changing the resolution every 0.5 seconds but without changing it on the whole screen… it just stretches to the bottom and goes back… Kinda flashing.
The Framerates in those games are still 80+ so its not lagging or something like that.
In Games i play in windowed mode like “Heroes of Newerth” i didnt encounter any problems yet, StarCraft 2 works nicely too.
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
Two Dual HD 5970
IntelCore I7 X980 @ 3,33GHz
12GB Kingston Trichannel Ram
2x 1GB HDD with RAID
My Main Monitor is SyncMaster P2770 with 27″
The 2nd Monitor is SyncMaster P2470 with 24″
I already tried to change the V-Sync options ingame and in the CCC but that didnt help, Checking/Unchecking Crossfire-X isnt helping and using only one monitor changes nothing too…
Excuse my sometimes broken english pls, I hope some1 can help me with this problem…
Cincerely,

Not really sure how to help you at this point and time but for now, try this:
1) What is the resolution that you usually have set on your desktop? Set the game to that resolution.
2) Check the box in the settings panel of the game that says “Full Screen”.
3) Make a shortcut to one of the games and ‘right-click’ it -> ‘properties’ -> ‘Shortcut’ tab -> select ‘Maximized’ under the “run” setting.
Alternatively, make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card.
Answer #2
What is your Graphic Card?
For ATI, Go to its settings and Force your Graphic card to run on certain Resolution, That way you can Play all the games without crashing
Answer #3
nice configuration mate . you might wanna change the name of the topic to high resolution cause i think that’s what you meant. i cant say that i had a similar problem. So the problem happens on both monitors when you try them separately? does it happen on all resolutions or only higher ones or only the highest? did you try removing one graphic card and tried each one separately?
Answer #4
1,667GHz for memory is not possible as of yet.
Sounds like a video card driver issue.
Answer #5
well…
My graphics card is ATI Radeon Dual HD 5970 (i got 2)
problem accurs on any resolution i try ingame, i tried using the cards separately, uhm the shortcut thing didnt work, with forcing the graka to display a certain resolution, where shall i change that? when i go to the CCC i can only use 1650×1080 or w/e that is, but that well that looks awful on 27’…
I Just tried a Xtreme G Driver a friend sent to me, with this driver the problem still occurs on my 27′ Monitor, but not on my 2nd (24′) Monitor… I’d like to have a solution where i can play the games on 27’…
well i’ll go to bed now as its 3:20 am here… lets see what tomorrow brings.

hmm then maybe i mistyped something there and ment 667 MhZ, i’m a little confused atm x)
Answer #7
You will only use drivers from AMD, not third party modified drivers.
Answer #8
Mhm I’d really like to, but as for now i am getting more problems with the AMD drivers than with that 3rd party driver, i tried the 3 or 4 newest AMD drivers and they all have the same problem… or i am getting the same problem with all of them, if you have some kind of solution for me where i can use an AMD driver i will gladly use it =/ At the Moment i am kinda desperate and would even use Nvidia drivers if that would work x)
