External HDD showing as RAW.

December 11th, 2016

I have one 2 tb 3.5 segate HDD.I connected one 1tb hdd(2.5 ,external) and after that it(2 tb one) is shown as RAW partition.I am unable to access it.I tried to shut down and restart,view in linux,disconnect and reconnected but it didn’t rectify the problem.I have one 500gb internal HDD.I want to change mine HDD back to fat32 without formatting with all the data.I can’t perform recovery as I don’t have enough free space as @ tb one is 1.6gb full.
Answer #1
Try recovering the partition using testdisk. Get a live rescue disk that has it or install it to the Linux distro you’ve used.

i m not good with linux so i dont know if fat32 benefits at that system. i used many external drives , all from was WD . it had quick formatter software so seagate should have too. if you find it , use it on the external hdd that you have problem with (i m assuming there is no data in it). this is the quickest way , if it doesnt help or seagate doesnt have such kind of software, u need to create volumes for your raw hdd which requires a few steps. first try the easy method
edit : i found the software to do it , it is called diskwizard you can download it from seagate’s site. but it is like more complete software than just formatter so it will have many options but it will do the job if you use it correctly. know that all the data on the drive will be lost after the process.
Answer #3
Use paragon hard disk manager its native windows software Run the undelete partitions wizard and scan for partitions created in vista or later. Simple;

Tried it,it says alyways that it has corrcted but to reboot to see the effect but nothing changes after reboot.Tried paragon but it says “The Wizard did not find unallocated space that can be looked for deleted partition”.Any other suggestion.
