DVD driver wont work

I was tring to burn CD’s for my friend on a toshiba sattelite and windows media player said insert a cd burner and restart the player.
SO i went to my computer and my cd driver isnt showing up.
Any idea why and how do I fix it?

Is the burner detected in the bios?

virus? i fixed my bosses laptop 2 weeks ago and i ran malwarebytes and his drive wasnt popping up after removing the malware etc and restarted pc it reappeared no problems
