i had windows 7 installed, partitioned the hdd into 2 parts, then tried to install xp on the second part, now when i start the computer i go straight into xp, and there is no choosing which OS to use at the start up, as i was led to believe by stuff i read on the internet…..

Answer #1
put the windows cd in, boot from it, click repair, click boot repair ( or something like that)
and it will fix the bootladder,
if when you turn ur pc on it boots straight into windows 7, then from iwndows 7 download easybcd and make you boot ladder have two entries, 7 adn xp
Answer #2

that method seems to work in the beginning but then i got to the point where you choose to log on to c:/windows or d:/windows, and then it asked me for my administrator password, I DON’T HAVE A BLOODY ADMINISTRATOR PASSWORD, NEVER FKING HAVE! i pressed enter and it says invalid password.
ARRGGH! why is Microsoft so fking stupid with stuff like this….
Answer #4
Use hiren’s bootcd to reset password(s)
Hint: ALWAYS USE PASSWORDS.. and must importantly: stay calm..
PS. The reason they made it hard(er) is because you installed a newer os first en then installed an older one… Normally you install xp first and then windows 7 or whatever newer OS..
