Disc cannot be read by computer

Okay well I recently got windows vista upgraded to windows 7 and since then, my laptop cannot read any DVD/CDs. Is this occur often? If so, can someone guide me to show how to dix this problem.
P.S. I ran the ‘Fix It’ program and it was of no help.

See if the device is in device manager.

It is a TSSTcorp CDDVDQ TS-L633C SCSI CdRom Device

Yellow exclamation mark? If so, try installing the driver for it. If not, try installing your chipset drivers and rebooting.

Hmm something new just happened, I seen that last part of my message and i put a CD into my computer adn it worked! But only CDs. Hmmm that is odd.

go into device manager, and right click on your dvd drive, and press uninstall. Then at the top click search for new devices, and windows 7 should reinstall your drive.

Okay I uninstalled it, I went to the action tab and pressed ‘scan for hardware changes’ and it reappeared. I couldnt find out which button to press to make win7 to reinstall the drive.
