Buying A New Laptop

August 7th, 2016

Well, I have no computer anymore. I plan on saving up my money and buying a new laptop in 6 months. I want to buy the right thing for me because laptops are hard to up grade.
I want 15.4, dvd burner, wifi etc, but the real question is the gaming aspect of it. I’m new to this part of computing.
I want a system that is going to last along time for video games but not be over 2 thousand dollars.
A retailer showed me one that had dual core with 2G memory and the video card had 2G memory also. That was 2500 dollars. Sure seam nice but I don’t think I need that much to play all tghe games I want.
Is this good enough and will it last for the life of the laptop. Roughly seven years.
NVIDIA GeForceTM Go 8600M GT with 256MB DDR2
Please give me input on what is a good spec to buy. I know plenty of you are gaming freaks and I’m new to gaming. Asking retailers is pointless, they will just sale the most expensive system that most likely I won’t need.
Anyone know of a brand and model number for me to check out?
I sure would love to have an Acer Ferrari, but I think that is out of my league.

First thing, what games are you playing now? and what type(fps/rpg) of games are you planing on playing in the future?
Second, laptops are not a great gaming device they are just to compact for that. ;/
Third, in the next 6 months the market can and will change allot and what the things that will be mention now will be “bad” to buy then.
Fourth, a laptop and computer in general will only last 2-3 years until they so out-dated that you can’t play newer games.
If you will buy it today things you would like to have in it is something like this:
Intel Core 2 Duo 2 Ghz
2 or 4 GB DDR2 Memory (Deepening on operating system)
7200 RPM drive
GeForce 8700M GT or 8600M GT
And by the way not all retailers try to sell you the most expensive system(even if most does). If you have any “real” computer store near you give them a visit and they can probably give you allot of help. ^^

Thats very good advice. Look around town for a little PC shop and chat with the people in there. In most cases they can set aside the time to really be able to explain things better. Even if you don’t buy from them, if you talk to the right person you will be much better off. And if you buy from a little shop like and go for a custom laptop they will be able to put some artic silver 5 under the heatsinks without voiding the warranty (Laptops run HOT).

Thanks for the help guys, I do realize that a laptop is a bad choice for gaming. I giving up a little for the portability.
I just looked at a pc gaming magazine and they have a mail order web site that list only gaming laptops. With there selection I have found what I’m looking for. It is about $1,300 and that is realistic for my needs.
More than likely they will have a better system at that price range in 6 months when I have tghe money.
By the way the web site is.
