more harm on hdd

i recently purchase a wd 500 gb HDD, it took me a long time to formate, after i installed XP on it i found 24 bad sector, i try to repair it but it apear again after formatting again, i ask the dealer to change a new one but the dealer denie as it is working, i want to make more harm in my HDD so that i can ask for a new one, help me thanks in advance.

I’d demand that I get a new one or get your money back. I sure as hell wouldn’t put up with a hdd that has bad sectors out of the box.

go to WD’s site and get there diagnostic tool to check/repair(maybe) the drive

and if the dealer won’t swap the drive just return it if it’s new
then go somewhere else and get another one

If you really want to nuke your harddrive use a magnet. But I don’t recommend it… I’d rather go back to the dealer and try again getting a new drive.

You would need one hell of a strong magnet.

A magnet might erase data, but not damage the drive.
Forget the dealer, talk to the manufacturer. WD has always been pretty good for customer service.
